Today there is a lot of debates and discussions about the use of AI tools to generate images and texts. As a creative, designer, illustrator and copywriter I was scared of the AI tools. Are they going to steal my job? I love creating, drawing, photography and writing. Can some 'code' just take that joy and my job away? Because of my initial fear for AI I decided to try an AI image generating tool.

 

Since my dream is to use my creativity to make the world a better place, most of the concepts I come up with have to do with societal or environmental, issues. I wanted to know if I could use AI to quickly visualize my ideas. But when I started playing around, one question immediately came to mind: what do people look like according to the AI tool?

 

The result shocked me. Well schocked-isch. Because the AI tool actually generates images based on what’s already out there. What WE as a society feed it with. So the AI is the perfect way to show our own prejudices and stereotypes. It’s basically a mirror.
